March to Establish Hospice Continues
The onward march towards the establishment of the standalone Barbados hospice and palliative care center continues. All the preliminary work for this joint private-private venture between the Barbados Association for Cancer Advocacy (BACA Barbados) and the Living Water Community (LWC) both charitable Barbados organizations is completed and the final preparatory step of selecting a construction firm is in process. BACA & LWC Sign Agreement to Build a Hospice
The Trustees of BARBADOS ASSOCIATION FOR CANCER ADVOCACY (BACA) and LIVING WATER COMMUNITY INC. (LWC) have announced the signing of a joint venture agreement to construct and operate a standalone Hospice and Palliative Care facility at the LWC compound at St. David’s, Christ Church in Barbados. Central to this agreement is the concept that human beings deserve the right to palliative care that permits a pain-free, peaceful, dignified transition. Read more

BACA Promoted Hospice & Palliative Care at B'dos Conference
BACA participated in the Barbados Network Consultation 3rd Diaspora Conference held in Barbados in August 2014 at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre. The forum was intended to sensitize stakeholders to the importance of hospice and palliative care as an integral part of elder care and to provide an update on progress towadrs the standalone hospice being promoted by BACA and the diaspora community.
