BACA‘s Annual Summer White Affair held Saturday, June 8 at the residence of Jackie Parris in St. Albans, NY, was a festive affair, with a special surprise appearance by legendary Barbadian entertainer Lew Drayton. The crowd of almost 100 danced to music by Batch, enjoyed delicious food and shared prizes from the silent auction.
BACA officers for 2013 were installed in a ceremony held on March 17 at the Resurrection Anglican Congregation, 88 Hanson Place, Brooklyn, NY by the Reverend Canon Dr. G. Llewellyn Armstrong. Dr. O'Neall Parris was installed as chairman, Marcel Kennedy as Vice Chairman, Diana Cadogan as Finance Officer, Margaret Deane as Secretary, Janelle Taylor as Assistant Finance Officer/Secretary, Vashti Watson as Education Chair, Shirley Holder as Public Relations Officer, Annette Merritt-Alleyne as Events Chair and Ed Alleyne as Membership Chair.
At the BACA Annual General Meeting last month, several executive committee members were re-elected: Dr. O'Neall Parris, as chairman, Marcel Kennedy as Vice Chairman, Diana Cadogan as Finance Officer and Margaret Deane as Secretary. Janelle Taylor was elected Assistant Finance Officer/Secretary. In addition, committee heads were appointed as follows: Vashti Watson, Education; Shirley Holder, Public Relations; Annette Merritt-Alleyne, Events, and Ed Alleyne, Membership.
