Love and Generosity will be in the air as BARBADOS CANCER ASSOCIATION USA (BACA), INC. hosts its third annual concert. The venue is St. Francis College on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 7:00 pm.

Headlining will be the magnificent sounds of virtuoso Saxophonist Elan Trotman. He is one of jazz’s most thrilling and emotive performers as he continues to stand out and push boundaries. He is a composer, performer, teacher and recording artist. Trotman’s playing, though inspired by Grover Washington, Jr., Kirk Whalum and Nagee displays his own fresh ideas and distinctive tone, so much so that the New England Urban Music Awards and the Barbados Music Awards both named him Jazz Artist of The Year on multiple occasions. Elan is also the Executive Producer and host of the Barbados Jazz Excursion, a jazz and golf weekend getaway which brings over 300 music lovers to the island of Barbados every Columbus Day weekend.

Born and raised in Barbados and educated at the world renowned Berklee College of Music in Boston, this artist approaches jazz in his own way. Blending Caribbean rhythms from his roots with skillful horn textures, his playing is full of surprises.

Also featured in the concert, the NY Valiha Fusion Band will take us on a journey to the east. The scintillating sounds of the Valiha, the national instrument of Madagascar, will mesmerize you in a unique experience of jazz fusion showcasing global artists from far and near including Japan, Madagascar and the USA.

“Hospice is a concept of care to provide pain and symptom management and support to patients and families facing progressive, life-limiting illnesses. Therefore, a Love concert fits in well with concepts of love and generosity during the season of Valentines. It also supports BACA’s on-going fundraising and awareness efforts as all proceeds will be donated to the Barbados Hospice project which is located at St. David’s Christ Church, Barbados. We anticipate that Barbadians, friends of Barbados and jazz lovers across the Tri-State will support this worthwhile venture and we look forward to welcoming you.” Heather Marsh, President BACA.
